MAIN POINTS

The course of a typical session and the questionings of the practitioner can give you an idea of the complexity arousing in some cases.

This case is difficult due to the red-blond hair. Parameters of the laser shot must be discussed one after the other.

The period when laser could only treat patients with white skins and dark hair is over and very far away!

CONCLUSION

You now know how to choose a center in which to be treated completely confidently. Choice of the device: the Alexandrite for light skins, the Yag for dark skins. A Criojet type cooling system, with air blown at -60°C. Ideally, choose a practitioner with a laser equipped with an intermittent shooting system, which can be adapted more easily to your personal characteristics. No treatment without medical supervision. Avoid flash lamps and other IPL. Indeed, the results obtained with such devices cannot be compared to that of a laser and can induce severe burns and stimulate the hair.

It's up to you!

A typical session

The following pictures will help us create a mini scenario illustrating the different steps of a session. In this case, a 30 year-old man, the patient presents with a type II skin (light skin, sensitive to the sun). The patient is fed up from suffering from shaving irritations and from the pain due to ingrown hair. He wants us to get rid of his neck and cheek hair, but wishes to keep his goatee.

 Avant la séance laser

The hair colour type is blond to red, which will induce some technical difficulties. Indeed, the hair of such patients do not contain any eumelanin. They contain pheomelanin, which does not absorb the light beam as well. The heat freed at the bulb level will be less important than in a black hair, so that additional sessions will be necessary to obtain a perfect result. On the first picture, we can see that the hair are quite thin.

The choice of the parameters used in the laser shot will be made from these observations. A thin hair cools down faster than a large hair, and as the hair colour is light, it will be necessary to heat up the bulbs as much as possible in a minimum time. We will thus choose a 5 ms time pulse. Which means that the light energy emitted by the laser will be transmitted in very short flashes, so that the targets are affected as much as possible and do not have the time to cool down, until regenerative structures of the hair are irreversibly damaged.

The area to be treated has been shaved. We can see on this picture the laser nozzle: the light beam is emitted by the aperture at the top while the cold air is blown from the narrow aperture at the bottom of the nozzle. A small skin depression can be seen where the air is blown, which points out how powerful the air flow is.

Refroidissement cutané laser

In spite of all these technical precautions, we know that such shooting parameters can affect the skin, which does not have as much time to cool down, and despite the cold air blown constantly at a -60°C temperature before, during and after the shot.

This cooling system prevents burns and their development. The erythema and papules that appear immediately after the treatment completely satisfy the laserist as they guarantee the efficiency of the shot. It is clear on this picture that the skin is not burnt.

Effets du tir laser: papules

The papules will disappear after thirty minutes approximately. The residual redness disappears after 2 to 3 hours approximately.

The above picture presents the results four months approximately after the third session. This patient only shaves very occasionally now, and the shaving does not induce any unpleasant symptom or irritation.

Conclusions

We hope, now that you know everything about lasers, that this wonderful technology has seduced you as it has seduced us. We still have to convince you that it will soon be as natural to get rid of superfluous hair as to use a cell phone in the street.

The XXIst century - as other centuries before - is the era of hair hunt.

This movement began a few years ago and has developed really fast. Both men and women are concerned, every social class are affected, and all body areas - including the most intimate - are involved in this epidemic.

No originality! will answer history experts, and they are right ! Under Louis XIV, it would have been unthinkable for a noble to be seen with hair by a woman. Even today, women from the other side of the Mediterranean Sea undergo complete hair removal with the traditional lemon caramel!

Certainly, but to what cost? Because it is the cost that has evolved recently. It has been sold until today against hours of pain, redness, pimples and scars, until the subject - completely exhausted - finally gave up, the skin scattered with disgraceful marks.

But the hair hunt, more or less active throughout history depending on the cultural and social background, has just met a radical technology. Thanks to more and more performing devices, hair removal on light hair and dark skins has become possible, prices have reduced, and the technique has become common. It seems obvious that the art of soft skins has convinced everybody.

So! Have you made up your mind? You have become an informed patient by reading this guide. A real partnership will be possible with the physician you will decide to rely on.

Are you still hesitating? You should get directly to the heart of the matter. Do not hesitate to ask for more information to a laserist. You can ask to undergo skin tests, and the physician can make you a detailed estimate. Most of the time, such operations are free, and after that, you will know what to do!

You find it too expensive? Do not hesitate to compare this budget with your current budget! Laser represents an investment to keep a soft skin permanently. The expenses linked to other hair removal techniques are limitless, and result in extirpations, scars and other folliculitis, just to keep a soft skin a few days per month.

You wish to benefit from the best aspects of this technique? At the lowest cost? You are now informed enough to issue.an invitation to tender on the Web.

But be careful not to develop a business relationship!

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure, and your physician is not a merchant. His role is to examine indications and contraindications corresponding to your hair removal request, to check your motivation, and to treat you if he is convinced the procedure is justified.

Your physician will not encourage you to pursue unnecessary sessions, and he will not promise miraculous results either. His work is based on a relationship of trust, not a business relationship. The physician, by accepting a case, commits himself to provide the patient thorough and devoted care, based on sciences, and to ask for the help of qualified specialists if necessary.

Everything is explained in the wonderful article 32 of the French Medical Deontology Code, which guarantees permanent hair removal will be undergone following the moral code of a profession that includes the renowned . barbers!
